Potential candidates can now apply for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program at www.researchnet.ca. For additional information, applicants can also visit the program website at www.banting.fellowships-bourses.gc.ca.
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program will fund 70 new two-year awards annually with 140 awards active at any one time at program maturity. The fellowships, valued at $70,000/year (taxable), will be distributed equally across the three federal granting agencies.
A key requirement of this program is that research institutions be closely involved in endorsing applicants. The institutions must be committed to providing a strong and supportive environment for research as well as fostering professional development of awardees.
The goal is to recruit the highest-quality applicants from within Canada and around the world.
The new Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is jointly administered by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). CIHR has been designated as the operational lead for the implementation of the program.
