Recent launch of CIHR funding opportunities

RE: Recent launch of CIHR funding opportunities for research in ethics related to health, health research and/or health policy

The CIHR Ethics Office is pleased to announce the recent launch of several funding opportunities for research in ethics related to health, health research and/or health policy. These Priority Announcements offer additional sources of funding for highly rated relevant applications in the Operating Grant and Meetings, Planning and Dissemination Grant competitions.

The recently launched Priority Announcements are:

  • Operating Grant competition to support applications that are determined to be relevant to research in ethics related to health, health research and/or health policy.
    NEW:
    Consideration will be given to applications that are also relevant to:
    • Research with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis peoples to enhance active living, mobility and movement, and oral health; and addresses causes, prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, support systems, and palliation for a wide range of conditions related to bones, joints, muscles, connective tissue, skin and teeth; or
    • The implementation of the CIHR Guidelines for Health Research Involving Aboriginal People.
  • Meetings, Planning and Dissemination Grant competitions:
    • Planning Grants: to help researchers establish relationships and build trust with Aboriginal communities, and to reach consensus on the terms of a research project in order to develop Research Agreements for future applications for funding
    • Dissemination Events: to support relevant dissemination activities
    • NEW: KT Supplements: to support the analysis of bioethics or ethics issues associated with the research undertaken and/or its results following the successful completion of a CIHR grant/award or component of a grant/award
