‘The View from Abroad: Humanities and Social Sciences Research – A Value(able) Proposition’

International Panel Discussion: Saturday, March 7th

The Federation was pleased to host an international panel of scholarly experts during its annual General Assembly. Entitled "The View from Abroad: Humanities and Social Sciences Research - A Value(able) Proposition", the session was lively and extremely helpful, reminding everyone that challenges facing the community in Canada are very similar to those faced in many other places around the world.  Panelists remarked that Canada was, in fact, a leader in the organization and focusing of the humanities and social sciences community through bodies like the Federation. The Federation was pleased to host Dr. Steven Wheatley, Vice-President of the American Council of Learned Societies; Dr. Rüdiger Klein, Executive Director of the All European Academies (The Netherlands); Professor Miriam David, Chair of Council for the Academy of the Social Sciences (UK); and Dr. John Byron, Executive Director of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
