Political Minefields: Religion in a post-secular society
Ottawa, March 10, 2009 – How do religious beliefs affect policy decisions? One of Canada ’s leading scholars on the issue of religion will be in Ottawa this week to present his research for his upcoming book: International Migration and the Governance of Religious Diversity.
Director of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society at the University of Victoria, Dr. Paul Bramadat will explore how, as a diverse and open society, Canada is at the heart of a political maelstrom of beliefs, secularism, social forces, and transnational faith-based communities.
Dr. Bramadat will unveil the results of his research at an event for parliamentarians, government policy-makers and community leaders organized by the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences:
