Call for Sessions on the Royal Commission on the Status of Women
The Equity Issues portfolio advances issues of interest and concern to women, Aboriginal people, people of colour, people with disabilities and people of diverse sexual orientation who work and study in the humanities and social sciences.
Today’s Equity Issues portfolio is an extension of what was formerly the Women’s and Equity Issues portfolio and prior to that the Women’s Issues Network. Find out about its history.
The Vice-President of Equity Issues, with the assistance of a Steering Committee, monitors the status of women and members of the other equity groups in the Federation's member associations and universities, lobbies for increased attention to women's and other equity issues, and educates with respect to these issues.
Each year at Congress, the Equity Issues portfolio organizes panels and discussion groups on topics such the status of minorities in academia and employment equity. Over the years, the portfolio has developed a body of work and identified resources that can be used to trace the history of equity issues on Canadian campuses or for training purposes.
