CARLETON UNIVERSITY

Carleton University
Canada’s capital university is proud to host Congress 2009. Bordered by the Rideau River and the historic Rideau Canal, Carleton University’s 62-hectare campus is the ideal Ottawa locale.

Located less than 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Carleton University offers 65 programs of study and has more than 2,000 professors and 23,000 students. With over 100,000 alumni across Canada and around the world, Carleton has a strong tradition of excellence. The work of our students and faculty has led to many groundbreaking discoveries and creative works in science and technology, business, public policy and the arts. Many of our faculties are internationally recognized.

Carleton’s recent campus improvements include a new athletics centre, as well as the Human Computer Interaction Institute Facility and the Centre for Advanced Studies in Visualization and Simulation. In addition, plans are underway for two new state-of-the-art buildings to be completed in 2009-10. One of the buildings will face the Rideau River and house many of our leading programs including public administration and journalism. The second building will house innovative engineering and science programs including aerospace engineering and biomedical engineering. Carleton University is led by Dr. Roseann O’Reilly Runte, a dynamic president and French scholar. Under her leadership, Carleton will continue to grow and enhance its reputation.

Ottawa’s proud host of Congress 2009, the Carleton University campus is a gateway linking Ottawa’s historic past and the future.
